What Would You Do If You Won The Million Dollar Jackpot?

Some time ago The Star reported that 3 people won the Magnum 4D Jackpot amounting up to 12 million bucks making them instant millionaires. Back in February yet again some lucky business man won 11 million , making him rich beyond his wildest dreams. Soon enough you will hear yet another lucky bloke hit the Magnum 4D jackpot and it would look as if the Magnum 4D Jackpot is really that easy to win! You would wish that you too queued up along with the rest of the folks to buy that life-changing ticket just to have a glimmer of hope at winning the Magnum 4D Jackpot.

But if you were one of the winners what would you do with your million dollar prize money?

Yes They Usually Squander It

Many jackpot winners have been known to throw away the money recklessly by spending and living the life of luxury. One year down the road, that same person might be left with a small portion of the fortune, wondering where it all went. So will you pamper yourself silly and waste away those lovely notes?

The truth is anyone who has not been privileged enough to have access to such a large amount of money would be tempted to spend as they like. What many of the winners fail to do is to set aside a plan for the prize money so that it grows and the cash flow is continuous. When they find out they won the jackpot, they are just too excited and thrilled with the money, often having sleepless nights due to disbelief. Once they get their hands on the money they just spend it like they have an abundant source of wealth. What they really should do is draft a plan for the money. Allocate a certain percentage for investment. Put aside some for the children, you get the drift?

I believe that even if you have not won the Magnum 4D Jackpot or the DaMaCai Sweepstakes or the SportsToto MegaUltraVegaDhalsim Jackpot you should have a plan ready on how to use the money. But don’t go all crazy as if you have already won it. Just keep in mind, “What if?” You’ll never know. One day you might inherit a large sum of money and this plan would definitely come handy.

My Goals for A 10 Million Dollar Jackpot

I don’t know about you but this is what I would do with my million dollar prize ;) Assuming we are looking at 10 million here and since I mentioned SMART goals in the 6 important lessons from Uncle Lim’s story , let us put it into practice. (Okay so these goals are not so SMART anyway if I have not won the jackpot yet but hey, work with me here okay?)

1 – Set aside 5 million for property investment in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and also back in my hometown Kuantan. My portfolio will include a mix of

50% – commercial property for rental income

30% – residential property for rental income

20% – residential property for capital appreciation

2 – Set aside 2 million for paper investment. A professional investor will be hired to grow my paper portfolio.

3 – 1 million goes to charity. And I am not talking about Tzu Chi, NKF the sort but will be orphanages and shelters which will be hand picked by me.

4 – Set aside half a million to start up my own company in the field of illumination.

5 – Spend half a million renovating and expanding my house (I already have the idea for it) and bring my family on a holiday trip to Macau.

6 – Keep half a million in the form of gold bullion.

7 – And keep the remaining half a million as cold hard cash.

Yeah that’s just what I am gonna do with my 10 million. Even if I don’t strike 10 million, at least I have a plan for it and I wont risk wasting it away.

Now the question is what would you do?

I’ll leave it up to you just as long as you promise not to go and build yourself a huge signboard on the North South Expressway :)
