It is a weekday. You are on leave because you need to clear it or else burn it before the year ends. You can’t sleep in and you get up early just like usual. You have nothing to do that day until later in the afternoon. Just when you least needed it, just when you have nothing on your to-do list and here you have it, a bright and sunny morning with no plans whatsoever. DAMN IT!
Well if that scenario so happens to befall you as well, you can consider hopping over to Imbi wet market for some good old Ah Weng Kor Hainanese breakfast! Here are the coordinates – 03° 08′37.5″ N, 101° 43′ 1.2″ E.

Craving for another artery clogging entry guided and fueled by the desire to locate this one undiscovered stall, I found myself and two buddies back in Salak old town hunting down what claims the be the most mouth watering char siew (barbecued pork) anyone could find.
It all started when our friend Win-son was on his wedding shoot in a junkyard nearby and his photographer’s aide bought them char siew rice for lunch. Ever since that day, my friend Win-son has been craving for this particular char siew rice but yet again he does not know the location of the stall. The only information he had was this – Salak old town. So the last weekend on a Saturday afternoon, me and my buddies went around Salak old town hunting for this particular char siew rice.
The place was not hard to find since Salak old town is really a small town and there weren’t many stalls selling char siew rice. We stumbled upon this shop called Kedai Kopi Tian Hong (in direct translation to Cantonese it sounded more like Tin Fook Cha Sat) and they were hanging up these delicious-looking char siew for sale along with some grilled chicken. We stopped by this shop being only half sure that this was the shop until our order arrived and Win-son confirmed that this was the shop with THE mouth watering char siew rice. The shop was just located opposite the 7-11 in Salak old town with the coordinates of 03° 05′1.17″ N, 101° 41′46.65″ E.

Since the day I had the Klang ’special’ bak kut teh I was dying to try the Puchong dry-style bak kut teh for comparison. So last week after running some errands on a typical Saturday morning, eatgod and I decided to stop by Yap Chuan DRY bak kut teh for lunch.
The shop is easy enough to spot as it is a corner lot and it has a large signboard which says ‘Restoran Yap Chuan Bah Kut Teh’ (duh). Ask anyone living in Puchong about bak kut teh and they will most definitely pick out this shop in Puchong Utama. The shop is so famous that it even shows up on the Malaysian Malsing map at 02° 59′40.5″ N, 101° 37′16.0″E! Oh ya! The shop name is actually pronounced “yip chuen” and doesn’t sound anything like the way it is spelled so if you are asking for directions try to get the name of the shop right!

Just to let you guys know that I am currently writing up my review of some food while I was attending my friend Win-son’s wedding in Teluk Intan and also on Bidor’s duck thigh noodle which was along the way.
I also managed to get pictures of the Puchong bak kut teh which I mentioned in the Klang ’special’ bak kut teh review earlier. I’ll write a full review on that and hopefully will be able to release it by this weekend.
Also due to Win-son’s generosity, my friends and I had the opportunity to savor seafood at Batu 8 Kapar! Look out for it this weekend!

There’s nothing better than a pot of good old bak kut teh on a Sunday morning, what more if it is Klang bak kut teh.
So what about Klang SPECIAL bak kut teh? This version of the bak kut teh came highly recommended by eatgod and was acclaimed THE bak kut teh which enthusiasts must try. eatgod did not want to reveal what was so special about it and he even insisted that I find out myself. Curiosity got the better of me so I obliged and off we went to Klang to try out this ’special’ bak kut teh.
Upon arriving at the shop, eatgod started conversing with the owner in fluent Hokkien. What I could make out from the conversation was hu bak, heh, chim which translates into fish meat, prawns and crab. Were we having SEAFOOD bak kut teh? eatgod told me to be patient and so I did. Meanwhile I locked on the coordinates – 3° 3′42.9″ N, 101° 27′1.6″ E. Looking around the shop, I noticed it was quite cool although the sun was blaring. One of the reason could be that the shop was covered with zinc roofing and the ceiling height was quite high. This was a good combination but it would be hell when it rains. The shop is nicely seated at the junction of Persiaran Pulau Pinang and Lebuh Pulau Pinang. As for the name of the shop…sorry I forgot to take pictures of the signboard but rest assured I will update the shop name the next time I am there.

finally! klang 'special' bak kut teh
