The Global Mobile Phone Market Share: Pre-2000s to Date

by jianchung on June 24th, 2010 | Posted in Stuf | Tags: , , , , , , , , ,

Browsing through some finance blogs, I found this at Bloomberg – a chart which depicts the slow demise of Nokia as the reigning phone giant it used to be. The chart was a comparison between Nokia, Apple and RIM with Apple leading the herd and growing 8X larger than the former giant Nokia. When I saw this chart I wondered, what about the rest of the industry? So I went on and scoured the Net and came up with a timeline of what happened in the mobile industry from the pre-2000s to date. Read on for more.

Bloomberg Chart of the Day: Nokia in the Dumps

by jianchung on June 24th, 2010 | Posted in Stuf | Tags: , , ,

Things don’t look so good for Nokia, the former mobile phone giant as Bloomberg released this trend chart. The chart focuses on 3 major handset makers – Apple, Nokia and RIM – and reviews their performance from year 2000 till present. Nokia which previously was 14 times the size of Apple, has now shrunk to one eight of the size of Apple. Or is it that Apple has grown? Well it works both ways but the truth remains that Nokia has lost its touch with its consumers. Probably spending too much time trying to be a please-all?

HTC EVO 4G: Be Prepared for Headaches – Issues So Far

by jianchung on June 22nd, 2010 | Posted in Stuf | Tags: , ,

Since its launch on the 4th of June, the HTC EVO 4G has been plagued by various issues. Talk about bad luck (or just bad engineering), the HTC EVO 4G first suffered supply shortage in the US due to the overwhelming demand. Next was a screen separation issue which consumers feared would affect its usability and reliability. Now people are talking about the screen sensitivity to grounding?! HTC, get your act together!! Lets hope they solve all this before the HTC EVO 4G starts shipping in Malaysia. Read more on the issues after the link.

Amazing Stunt Riding…on a Carbon Road Bike

by jianchung on June 21st, 2010 | Posted in Stuf | Tags:

Conventional wisdom has it that most two-wheeled stunts are performed on thick, knobby wheels which gives you more grip and absorbs most of the impact. But that adage has come to an end as British trials legend Martyn Ashton does it all…on a carbon road bike. Once again, its the biker not the bike that matters. Video after the jump.
