Six Months Later, A-ho-ho-ho And A Happy New Year!

by jianchung on December 31st, 2009 | Posted in Blog | Tags: ,

Just with the blink of an eye (ok both eyes since eyes never blink alone), more than six months have passed since my move to Kuala Lumpur and here I am sitting at my office desk rushing to complete the deadline for some project on the eve of 2010.

Christmas came and went by without staying for long as well thanks to yet again the same project but luckily I got myself some vacation time back home. One lesson to learn here is to never plan your deadline anywhere near Christmas and New Year because you will the the one cursing at yourself in the end. Everyone else will be in the mood for celebrating and you will be the only one left doing the work till late but sometimes you just have to do what you have to do.

So this is the time of the year where you look back and think of your accomplishments (or rather lack of accomplishments) and say, “Hell yeah, that was a good year. Let’s make a next year an even better one” and this is where you start to make your new year resolutions.

When I was younger, I had the tendency to only make up my resolutions as I go along and usually by June I would have finalized my resolutions. By December I would have completed only a part of them and left them for the following year. As I grew older and more mature I found out that it is important to set a goal (or a few) and strive to achieve it within the allocated time frame. My resolutions came earlier and I managed to complete all of them before the year ended.

This time around I aimed to set my resolutions for the year 2010 up front as early as New Year’s Eve (actually I’ve already given some thought to this so it was actually finalized much earlier) so here goes.

Resolution #1 - xx xxxxx xx xxxxxxxxxx Xxx Xxx Xxxx xxxxxxx xx Xxxxxxx Xxx Xxxx xx xxx xxxxxxx

This one is for my own knowledge only :p

Resolution #2 – to lower down my cholesterol to below 5.2

I was recently awarded with the Youth High Cholesterol Award of the Year for the Year 2009 as my cholesterol ratio went up to 6.0 from 5.3 in 2008! Having a healthy diet and lifestyle is important so I am going to start eating right and I am going to start myself on the P90X program to get fit!

Resolution #3 - to update ahyen.com once a fortnight

Yes I want to update this blog with more post on sharing of my own experiences in life, more food posts (don’t worry about Resolution #2 – juicy sinful food reviews will still be top priority) and also more on living green in Malaysia. I find that having paid for my own domain name and web hosting service I might as well use it to the fullest.

Resolution #4 – to kick start my BFM program

BFM stands for Building Financial Mountains and I borrowed this term from BFM89.9. I have already setup a plan for the next 5 years to build my own financial mountain and in-line with Resolution #3 I will update my experiences along the way right here in this blog.

Resolution #5 – to complete reading all my books

I have a treasure trove full of self help books and most of them I have only gone through the first few chapters. If I do not finish them then buying them serves no purpose!

These 5 resolutions for 2010 should keep me busy for a while. I hope I won’t be too busy fulfilling all of them and neglect Resolution #3! Here’s to wishing all of you a very Happy New Year 2010!
