A few weekends ago, me, Munis and Tetek were headed down to Banting for a friend’s wedding. We were supposed to meet up with another fella – Jeeves in Seremban and spend the nite at his place. Somehow or rather, Jeeves was delayed a couple of hours which left the three of us time to kill. At that point of time we were already at the Tapah rest area. No point turning back to Ipoh, and its too freaking early to head down to Seremban or Banting. So we decided to take a “little” detour to Genting Highlands.
MUAHAHAHAHA.

apalancho!
I can almost hear ppl saying…wtf is apalancho? What in the world does it mean? What dumbass language is that??
Well my frens, apalancho!!??
Back in my uni days, me and a few friends were forced to stay together with other races namely Malays and Indians. I grew up in a Malay town so it was no biggie, but for the rest of my chums it was a big hoo-hah.
It all turned out pretty well apparently as our housemates were a bunch of cool joes. 3 Malays, 2 Indians and the rest a bunch of pak cham kai Chinese under 1 roof. Within a week of moving in we were all having TT sessions, ciggy breaks and even teaming up for Warcraft.
There was this guy who always greeted us with “Apa lanciau?” regardless where we met him. It kinda stuck to the rest of us and before you know it we were greeting everyone in the same manner. Eventually it kinda evolved into “Apalancho!!” and it has been the same till this day.
Only a handful of us actually use this term nowadays, especially those who still keep in touch. The rest are scattered all around the world now. Really miss the good ol’ days.
I’ll be borrowing the term for my blog, but how does this blog tie-in to the term apalancho? It doesn’t!! This blog will serve as a journal for the search of my life’s passion. What’s my passion? Seriously at this point of time, I don’t really know what I want to do with my life. So I’m gona start exploring. I’m gona start trying new things, doing things that is out of my comfort zone. Who knows when I’ll be able to find my passion. I might even help others find theirs first!
I’d really like to tell you the story about one of my ex-colleague, Uncle Lim who sparked this thought but let’s save it for another post. Thats it for now. Maybe I’ll write more about my money-making escapades back in 2007 for the next post.
Or maybe not :)
*Update - I renamed my blog to ahyen.com ;)
